About Us

Path Forward: Who benefits

This site is for people in more than just difficult marriages. Marriages that are toxic, destructive and abusive leave a person feeling confused, helpless, and lonely. Navigating a path forward with peace can feel impossible. But God has called us to peace. Good resources are hard to find. Well meaning Christians may not know how to help. Though this site cannot give advice, it is made by people who have been through this journey and are sharing resources to navigate the challenges of a destructive marriage. The site invites Christians and non-Christians alike as God invites us all in. God sees you. God loves you. And, He is the Prince of Peace.  Invite Him on this journey!

The Psychology of Abuse

The path forward requires a mind shift. You need to learn how to recognize the patterns of destructive behaviors. Learn what the Bible says about abusive behaviors. Though the word "abuse" is not literally in the Bible, there were many situations of abusive, destructive and oppressive relationships in the Bible to learn from. Jesus stood against evil and wrongdoing. Jesus spoke up for the weak and the oppressed. He helped the blind see- and He can help you see, too. A big part of this journey is renewing your mind to see things more accurately.  Learn to recognize your own thought patterns to stop questioning yourself and lean on the truth- the truth that sets you free.  Shift thoughts from how to accommodate in order to please or even hope to change your spouse, to changing YOU. You must find the peace, love and joy from God- not from your relationship.   God is greater than your spouse.  You get to define who you will be in this marriage. As the child of God, you are empowered to take back the captivity of your mind, to think, strengthen, and invite God in to show you how to respond in a healthy, effective, and Biblical way. Learn how to be less emotionally bruised by bad behavior, avoid reactivity, regain control, and respond with guidance from God.

The path forward needs an emersion into the Word of God. What does the Bible say about how to respond to a toxic spouse? Dive into the Bible to really understand the hard topics of separation and divorce.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2)
